Exploring the Historic Charm of Huangshan City, Anhui: A Cultural Gem in China 🇨🇳

We recently visited Huangshan City, located in the southern part of China’s Anhui Province. We weren’t there for long - and it was a very hot day so walking about the old streets was probably not a good idea anyway.

Tunxi Ancient Street, known as "Tunxi Laojie" (屯溪老街), is the beating heart of Huangshan’s cultural scene. Spanning nearly 1,200 metres, this historic street is flanked by well-preserved Qing Dynasty-style buildings, traditional tea shops, and artisanal stores. Walking along its cobblestone pathways feels like stepping back in time. Here, visitors encounter intricately carved wooden facades, red lanterns swaying above, and the rich aroma of local teas filling the air.
